how do you work with clients?

I meet with clients on the phone, on Zoom, or on Google Meet. This allows us the flexibility to be almost anywhere and still work together. We can also share screens and documents if on a video call. If a client is located in the Portland, Oregon area, we also have the option of meeting in person, either at your place of business, at my office, or a local café.

who are your clients?

I work primarily with owners of small businesses that have from 1 to 150 employees, although some fall outside of that range. My clients are from a wide variety of industries including food-service, retail, design, manufacturing, consumer and business services, farming, and commercial fishing. My personal coaching clients hail from all walks of life, and from many parts of the world.

How do I know if we’ll be a good fit?

I offer a 30-minute consultation to prospective clients at no cost and with no obligation. Click the button at the bottom of the page to schedule a time to meet by phone and explore the possibility of working together.

Coaching or Consulting?

That depends on your needs. I often incorporate coaching tools into consulting sessions when I sense that going a bit deeper would be beneficial for the client. For example, during a consulting relationship we will likely have the chance to explore leadership styles, core values, work-life balance, and other adjacent topics as we tackle the issues you face as a business. If it’s time to work on you and your relationship with your business, or if you’d like specifically to develop your own leadership skills or those of another staff member, I recommend a coaching engagement.

Coaching vs. Therapy?

The biggest difference between therapy and personal coaching is that therapy looks at your past (to help you heal past wounds) so that you can manage the present, while coaching starts in the present (building on your strengths and goals) to help you create the future you want for yourself. And while a coach can help you overcome many obstacles in your life, they are not certified to diagnose disorders or prescribe medications. If I discover through an initial conversation or a coaching relationship that therapy would be a better fit for you, I’ll let you know.
